Founded in 1990, Brisbane based Imtec Australia (1990) Pty Ltd was formed with a vision:  Provide a “one stop” outlet to the marine industry, by specialising in marine coatings and associated consumables, tools and equipment.  This would be supported by professional, technical service and advice to cater for everyone’s needs, from the D.I.Y. “boatie” to that of super yacht manufacturers.

 In recent years, Imtec expanded its successful enterprise by acquiring the Sydney based Scomar Distributors; a company holding a 20-year reputation for operating in the marine industry with similar products and principles as Imtec.

 Upon merging and to save confusion, Imtec opted to trade nationally as Scomar Distributors.  Scomar Distributors currently services the boat building industry locally, nationally and internationally from its bases in Brisbane and Sydney, Australia. Whilst names and locations may have changed, company direction has remained true to the original vision.

 Scomar Distributors aims to provide suitable products and solutions relevant to its customers’ needs, whether it be a simple and cost-effective fix, or a luxury coatings system to achieve a prestigious finish.

 Scomar Distributors is the exclusive Australian importer of quality products such as Sterling Marine, Aircraft and Architectural Coatings, Werdol (Epifanes) Marine Varnishes and more recently Bristol Finish Urethane Coatings.  Scomar Distributors is also the authorised representative in the South Pacific and South-East Asia regions for USA-based, Sterling Lacquer Manufacturing Company.
